15 Back Carries for a Short Woven Wrap (UPDATED! Now with 20 carries!!)

There are so many carries that can be done with a short woven wrap! Shorties are my absolute favorite so I'm delighted to give you some inspiration for what to do with them! We've focused this post and two companion posts, front carries and hip carries, on base-4 to base-2 size carries, plus a post for shortie fancy finishes. Please see this post for more on what "base size" means if you're unfamiliar.
Base-4:
  • Back Traditional Sling Carry. Start off-center (1/2 DH*), sling pass across baby's back, tie two tails in a slip knot on wearer's chest. Jump to the latest tutorial on the tutorials page.

Base-3:
  • Ruck TUB (tied under bum).Start on-center, ruck pass, tie both tails under baby's bum. Jump to the latest tutorial on the tutorials page.

Base-3/-2 (could go either way depending on tie-off, size of baby):
  • RRR (Reinforced Rear Rucksack or Pirate Carry). Start off-center (1/2 DH*), ruck pass, longer tail to torso pass, tie at shoulder (TAS)/candy cane chest belt (CCCB)/Buleria. Jump to the latest tutorial on the tutorials page.
  • HJBC (Half Jordan's Back Carry) has several variations
    • Classic with flip. Tutorial from Wrapping Rachel (make sure YouTube captions are on). Start off-center (1/2 DH*), sling pass with longer tail under arm, shoulder flip longer tail to cross pass, tie at shoulder (TAS)/candy cane chest belt (CCCB)/Buleria.
    • Symmetrical with flip. Tutorial from Wear A Baby (not captioned). Start off-center (1/2 DH*), sling pass with shorter tail under arm, longer tail to Wiggleproof pass, tie at shoulder (TAS)/candy cane chest belt (CCCB)/Buleria.
    • Symmetrical without flip. Tutorial from Tandem Trouble. Start off-center (1/2 DH*), sling pass with shorter tail under arm (alternatively - start in a ruck pass and leave the shorter tail over arm until the second pass is over shoulder, then bring the first pass down under arm), longer tail over shoulder and down under baby's leg to a Wiggleproof pass, tie at shoulder (TAS)/candy cane chest belt (CCCB)/Buleria.
      • Wrapping Rachel also shows the alternate way to tie with switching the tails at the very end (make sure YouTube captions are on).
    • Symmetrical inside out without flip (cross pass first). Tutorial from Wear A Baby (not captioned). Start off-center (1/2 DH*), cross pass with shorter tail under baby's knee (alternatively - start in a ruck pass and leave the shorter tail over arm until the second pass is over shoulder, then bring the first pass down under arm and under baby's knee), longer tail over shoulder and down under arm to a sling pass, tie at shoulder (TAS)/candy cane chest belt (CCCB)/Buleria.
  • Double Sling Carry. Start off-center (1/2 DH*), sling pass with longer tail under arm, shoulder flip longer tail to second sling pass, tie at shoulder (TAS)/candy cane chest belt (CCCB)/Buleria.
