Car Carriers: How to get baby from the car to your final destination!
Baby carriers make it possible for me to navigate my life, and much of that is getting everyone safely from car to where we're actually going. With baby #3 we chose to get a convertible car seat instead of the infant bucket seat, which was awesome for a number of reasons (like we haven't had to buy another car seat since!) and we got to do a lot more babywearing and finding out what works for us while out with the car.
With that in mind, I present episodes of my new series, "Car Carriers," which will highlight baby carriers I like to use at my car door. Let's be clear here - the car is parked safely and we're always putting on our carrier in a spot safe from traffic. Safety first!

- Episode One: Ring Sling Front Carry
- Episode Two: Base Size Woven Wrap Back Carry
- Episode Three: Meh Dai Back Carry
- Episode Four (coming 2/22): SSC Front Carry
- Episode Five (coming 3/1): Ring Sling Back Carry
01: Ring Sling Front Carry (with threading/carrier prep tips)
In episode one, we quickly review threading the ring sling (from my front seat), then move to the back to pick up baby. Click the link for a full video description. I'm using a bright yellow linen sling by Comfy Joey.
02: Base Size Wrap Back Carry
We're getting fancy in episode two! This may seem like a lot of work just for running errands at Target, but on some days a little fancy pick-me-up is just what the errands need. Click the link for a full video description. I'm tying a Twisted Maxine's Back Carry in Bijou Wear's Northern Waves superwash woolie.
03: Meh Dai Back Carry
Back carrying in a parking lot can be nerve-wracking, but with the right carrier you can have some peace of mind! A meh dai-style carrier has a seat that can't be "popped," and using this "hip scoot hack" ensures baby can't lean too far while getting them on your back. Click the link for a full video description. I'm using a Catbird Baby Meh Dai with a cute VW Bus pattern on the panel.
Coming this Thursday: Front Carry in an SSC
The "Car Carriers" series is not sponsored by a company or group.
